NOVEMBER OPEN SHOP – THIS SUNDAY/MONDAY!

Living Proof, Uncategorized

Join me for a night of screenprinting – this Sunday and/or Monday at Living Proof

Living Proof Print Collective

EXPERIENCED PRINTERS:
Please join us this week for our November Open Shop.
Open Shop is an open studio time when people with printing
experience meet up in the shop to work on projects –
individual or group.   We are screenprinting based and some
experience is a must, but it’s pretty low-key DIY.  We’ll have
Living Proofers in the studio working on projects so if you’d
just like to drop in and come check it out you’re also welcome.
This is a reoccurring event, the 3rd and 4th of every month.
This month’s Open Shop is this Sunday and Monday 6-9 pm.
This is also a very low cost event, but we do charge for supply usage-
on average this is $10-20. We’ll provide you with
screens/ink/emulsion and all that jazz- but bring your own
paper to print on. Don’t want to spend money or you…

Red Hot Art Recap

Living Proof

A blog I wrote on the Live Screenprinting Project I did with Living Proof for Red Hot Art in 2013

Living Proof Print Collective

Thanks to everyone who made it out to Red Hot Art in Stevens Square Park last weekend. We are so honored to have been able to participate and work with and meet so many of our community members. Here’s a recap:

A long standing tradition in the Stevens Square Park neighborhood (just south of downtown Minneapolis), Red Hot Art festival “provides an art and entertainment space for thousands of festival goers during the last weekend of July. Over 100 local artists and 20 bands are featured annually, along with local food vendors. The Red Hot Art festival strives to be accessible and affordable. A majority of the art available is between $5-$50 dollars. It’s a great opportunity to connect with local artists and purchase original artwork.

Founded in 1976, Stevens Square Community Organization (SSCO) is one of the longest running community organizations in the Twin Cities. Our goal is to…

Workshop: Printing Minneapolis Pizza Club T-shirts with Living Proof Print Collective and Lazy Geometry.

Want to learn how to screen-print? Join Paige Guggemos for a one day only screen-printing workshop in the Living Proof Studio (off Lake & Chicago in Minneapolis – inquire for exact address) where we will learn how to DIY print t-shirts using a design for the Minneapolis Pizza Club – a design which is the shape of Minnesota filled with pizza slices – one color design.

Participants will learn how to prepare (add design), coat (with emulsion), burn (expose), and clean a screen. Once the screen is prepared and rinsed, you will get to print your own t-shirt. We will all be sharing 1 or 2-screens to do all of the printing – we do this so we can accommodate more printers in the shop at once.

While we wait…

Lazy Geometry is just one person — Paige Guggemos: a mid-twenties female artist & adventurer from Minneapolis, Minnesota

Paige is currently a freelance graphic and sometimes web designer, who once graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design (MCAD) with an art & business degree.  She makes mostly light-hearted works based on pop culture, local bands, collage, text, found objects, science, nature, and lomography.  In her free time she likes long bike rides, live music, hanging with her 5 cats, smoothies, books, films, and is now working hard to start a new Minneapolis Gallery.  Usually, she is both social and awkward, and thoroughly enjoys the art of a good story.

In her past, she ran the now-defunct Tarnish&Gold non-profit gallery, and was a screen-printing/printmaking intern at both LandLand and Highpoint Center for Printmaking.  Paige once dabbled as a security guard at the Walker Art Center, grew up interviewing Punk & Indie bands for free music, and sometimes sells pizza for money.  She is also the founder of the Minneapolis Lomography Club, an open group for Minnesotans interested in meeting to take Toy Camera photos and share results.

Professionally, Paige specializes in Social Media & Web Marketing for small and non-profit business.  She also works heavily with graphic & web design, and occasionally merchandising and sales.  Personally, Paige specializes in small mixed media pieces, photography, graphic design for local bands, and screen-printing.

If you’d like to contact her for information on purchasing or commissioning work, please e-mail: paigeguggemos@gmail.com or call 612.205.7843.
